The Pioneer Program is centrally focused on Resident Choice and Resident Rights. Oakview Heights is at the forefront of exciting new movements to improve the quality of life for our residents. The Pioneer Program allows residents to determine and choose what they like/want and we do our best to accommodate each request.
At Oakview Heights, residents may get up at the time they want, go to bed at the time they want, take a nap where they want (chair or lying down), and take their bath as often as they want and at the time they want. Residents determine visitation hours for family and friends, and select which activities they want to take part in. Residents that do not want to participate in group activities are given the choice of one-on-one activities or may choose to read or watch TV.
As much as possible, residents will have a say in determining their roommates and are allowed to bring in their own furniture and belongings, as long as it is permitted by the facility. Oakview Heights will allow residents to choose room colors and help with decorating their room. Residents are encouraged to take an active role in determining the environment of the entire facility.
Meals are a highlight of the day. Residents can choose to have a continental breakfast around 7:30 a.m., a breakfast brunch at 10:30 a.m., an afternoon snack around 1:30 p.m., and a buffet style supper at 4:30 p.m. Additionally, an evening snack is offered again at 7:00 p.m. The resident can also make special requests at anytime during the day for more food or snacks. Residents can choose whether they want to eat in their own room or go to the dining room.
Oakview Heights is very committed to the individual choices of our residents and they are our number one priority.
